Here is a list of books that were either influential to my overall outlook or helped me refine my approach in various ways throughout the years. My general philosophy is to educate myself on all aspects of each food type, such as: How are they grown, processed and prepared. From there, I use this understanding to interpret the newest information that comes in with the latest diet crazes. They have their place and often bring relevant information to the forefront but its always a good idea to use your own judgement & experience when making adjustments to what types of foods you eat and how you prepare them.
This first group of books will make ideal companions to Power Food Kitchen:
The Coconut Oil Miracle by Bruce Fife
This book helps you understand the full potential of coconut oil. It also does a good job explaining the differences between other oils and the fats contained in them. This book was a turning point for me and possibly the most shocking revelation I had while furthering my own understanding of healthy living.
Eating on the Wild Side by Jo Robinson
You will be able to make much more informed decisions when buying fruits and vegetables after reading this book. The focus of this book is geared around understanding how different various types fruits and vegetables can be, even though they may show up side by side in the market. This book will help you understand which options are better.
